Guest Brookway2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Hi guy's i need to pick your brains my 1985 escort cabriolet 1.6 carb model the battery light glows sometimes on sometimes off ive cleaned all the earths changed the alternator the car has a brand new battery fitted but the fault is still there any other ideas as its bugging me now! is it possable that ive fitted a faulty alt as my battery does loose power over time (4weeks) ?? any advise welcomed graham Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Vincygav Posted November 17, 2013 Share Posted November 17, 2013 I have had this over the years. It was the (starter jumper lead) as Ford calls it. The wire that goes between your starter motor to your alternator. It is breaking down internally and shorting out. You could even do a wiggle test with the engine running and you would see it change brightness if you get someone to look at the dashboard battery light whilst doing it.
