Vincygav
Not too sure on the make up of it as the mk3/4 is slightly different from the mk5/6. If you could replace it, it would be ideal, if not and on a budget, best using a PU sealant.
Guest suffolk04
Fitted the rubber seals, which were alot better than my old ones. But after a recent downpour, the shark tank is back. I'm wondering now do vinyl roofs shrink with age? I'll upload a picture later, but its 7 years old, splitting at the back and sides, and the handle on drivers side has broken too
gingergman
Is it clamping down properly if the handle is broken?
Guest suffolk04
Yeah fits and locks fine, just trying to make a list on possible causes. Are there any drain holes in the sill? Maybe its blocked and leakng back in somewhere

Didn't fix it, lol. Don't suppose anyone has a spare door seal in good condition? The one that goes down the a pillar
Guest mk3cabby2014
im restoring a mk3 at the moment and even though its coverd up nice and tight water gets in through the mirror mount, down the door/ wing gap (it comes through a speaker in the mk3 but itll be behind a plastic piece on yours) and the window if you dont shut it right. That was before i started stripping it. If you've slammed the roof down most likely seals, but check the areas ive mentioned because i couldnt see where it was coming from til i started stripping the interior. Hope you sort it mate. Guest suffolk04
What's the best way to fix it? Its coming in just after the speaker. Can see it coming through bottom of the door dripping over the inner sill
Guest mk3cabby2014
probabley the seal round the door or if thats dry id guess that youve got rust somewhere on the a pillar, maybe where the door mounts are and the water is coming through. The bottom door mount is behind the speaker.
Guest Older and wiser
I have the same problem rear seat drivers side! Â Found that the hood leaked in the rear and water seeps to it's lowest point which is this area! Take out your back seat mate and you may find it comes from this area! Guest suffolk04
Found the problem, (I think) looks like the door seal on the a pilar is shot, the rubber has bent/folded in the corner, so isn't sealing properly, will be putting a post in the wanted section for a seal if anyone has one
Guest Older and wiser
I found my leak was from the rear boot area sneaking its way to rear seat area!
Guest suffolk04
I found my leak was from the rear boot area sneaking its way to rear seat area! Nice find, got the carpets and seats out at the minute, seams to becoming from the front area, I have noticed the top of the door sticks out, and the bottom of the door crushes the seal, anyway of adjusting the door? Guest JOHN-WRIGHT
I know i'm a bit late to this topic but i had the same problem years ago and traced it down to the adjustment screw on the elec window being set too high. As a test i closed the window to just short of fully up then closed the door....No more leak!
