Guest Brookway2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Share Posted September 26, 2013 Hi ive a 1985 escort cabriolet 1.6 carb model my problem is when i turn ign on the battery light is dim engine starts fine but battery light glows but flickers wile driving and gets brighter the more electric i use ie: heater blower headlights etc ive fiited new battery new alt and made sure all wires are fine had charging circut checked out and its charging fine but yet light stays on any ideas would be helpfull thanks in advance graham Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Vincygav Posted October 31, 2013 Share Posted October 31, 2013 Also check the wire coming from the alternator that links between the starter, if there is a break in this, it would produce the symptoms you mention, if you do a wiggle test, you may see the battery light get brighter or go out. Himanshu Posted October 31, 2013 Share Posted October 31, 2013 I had the same problem, I replaced the battery, the alternator, checked all the grounds, but traced the fault back to the printed circuit of the back of the instrument panel.
