Hi there I'm sorry if I'm asking a new question I am new ish to the cvh engine! Been a rwd classic ford man for a while now! Got myself a xr3i 1990 efi! Had a bad misfire solved that, now it cuts out at junctions probably the iscv I have learnt but... There is one pipe coming off the efi unit which goes to fresh air! Surly this isn't right? Tried blocking it up sometimes it cuts the engine, then I noticed a plug which also went nowhere? It's almost like a sensor is missing.... Help please!

Thanks from a newbie

Dom

Hi

The mystery plug is for the iscv, when this valve was originally fitted onto the airbox.

you car has the factory revision for iscv placement, so this plug is not required.

The pipe that is sticking out looks like someone had tried to plug up the hole. You should have a black blanking cover there, similar to the one in mass1v's photo. As long as that hole is covered properly than that is unlikely to be the problem.

Stalling at junctions is a common efi issue and is usually cured by decarbonising the iscv and base idle screw port.

Thanks for the help guys! Cleaned the iscv today clean as a whistle! Made a big difference, where is the Base idle screw port? Il do that next, but I have a sneaky feeling there's a cheeky airleak somewhere not helping the situation, and found today someone had drilled the airbox and removed the air filter! Not good!

P. S the car has been stood for over 2 years! Done the usual flushing and service, all problems so far seem to be a build up of crud!

it looks like somebody has swapped the pipes around, the one you have thats not connected is normally on the map sensor side (coming out the right side off efi and into map sensor)... then just blank the left pipe a bolt in the end of pipe and jubliee clip will do the trick  lol search google images for xr3i efi engine some good pics to look at
