Guest xr3idan
hi all. after my mk4 mfi xr3i being stood up for a few months i got to bring her home today. the six mile drive home was fine, couldnt fault her, started first time, drove fantastically. i then went to pick a mate up, about 15 miles away, involving duel carriageway on which i obviously stuck to the speed limit, all good still. i came home through the city avoiding duel carriageway and about half way home it sounded like id lost number 2 or 3. pulled over wiggled coil leads , she then sounded ok on tick over, pulled away and she kangarooed me all the way home, ive checked all leads, seem fine, ive also put fuel in today (fuel gauge dont work) so i know it has fuel where do i go from here? also when i got home i noticed the same oil leak shes always had, checked oil and not reading on dipstick so gotta put some in tomorrow. it wasnt that long ago i changed plugs and leads due to it doing what it is now, but not throwing me down the road. any thoughts or ideas would be hugely appreciated thanks. Guest Milkey
You don't put 97 Ron in it do you? I tried it in mine and it ran like a wounded dog and suffered with start up problems...

Guest xr3idan
YAY IVE SORTED EMILY OUT!!!! it turns out that number one lead was sitting just above manifold, causing heat damage, i replaced leads and plugs and shes back to her normal self. thanks for your help guys. next on the to do list it try anf get the manifold to seal to the down pipe, something thats been bugging me for a while!! but thats the least of my worries as whilst doing a few other things to her today i found a small hole in o/s sill now gotta buy sills and find a sensibly priced local welder. good job i love emily or she would have been gone months ago lol
