Guest Sharmaine Pearce
hey guys..yet another horn problem...seems to be the norm with escorts!! I have a mk6 1997 cabby. I cant get the horn to work..looked at the fuse and its fine (the hazards work) took the steering wheel apart and the buttons push and make contact. the wires in the steering wheel look fine too. ive had the horn off and cleaned all the contacts, but nothings worked. could it just be that the horn itself is naff? HELP plz.
gingergman
you can test the horn by putting wires off a battery directly to the terminals of the horn
Guest IanA
The horn on my late Mk5 went intermittent then failed completely. The switch tested out OK so I rewired it using a Scotchlok on the wire inside the steering column shroud. I fed the new wire through the bulkhead really easily using an existing grommet. I disconnected the cable from the horns and pulled it back up under the bonnet and found it had chafed through on a sharp edge- doh. Repaired that so now it's double wired.
