Guest reary
Hi all Is the gear linkage on a mk5a adjustable? If not are new parts still available as mine is badly worn almost like stirring porridge Does the mk5 b 1.8 share the same linkage? I have a mk5 b parts car that has a good 1.8 zetec in it is it worth pulling my current 1.6 cvh and sticking the zetec in? The cvh appeals to me cos its simple and cheap to repair and to be honest the one in my mk5 is sweet as a nut. Thanks Dale
Vincygav
It depends on what the 1.8 is.If it is the 1.8 zetec with 130bhp spec engine then no. As that had the MTX75 gearbox. Easy way to adjust it is with the car up in axle stands then slacken the 10 bolt underneath and move the gearlever as though you were operating it in service to simulate changing gears. Adjust the rod so that all gears could be engaged then tighten the nut
Guest reary
Hi Yes it is a 1.8 zetec 130 in the mk5b. Worth asking though. Thanks for replying
Vincygav
If you do want another linkage, you coudl do searches for the same 1.8 as an Si/XR3i or RS2000
