Guest reary
Hi All I have been trying to get my mk5 to start but all I get is a click from the starter so I took it off to see if it was just jammed. The idea popped into my head to leave the starter off the car but connected and to try it to see if the starter spun. Absolutely nothing happened not even the click. I bolted it back to the car and tried again and all I get is a click and no the engine definitely isnt seized lol To me it points to a bad connection on the starter what do you think? gingergman
Put it in gear and try rock the car back an forth, if its jammed a tad that will help. But sounds like battery to me.
Guest reary
Thanks for replying. Tried the rocking in gear and the battery is fully charged, my guess is the starter connections are so badly corroded or damaged its not getting a strong enough connection to turn it. I have a battery tester that I checked with. As soon as it stops raining I will pull the starter and check the connection and if need be connect my booster/charger and see what happens.
