Guest Solitaire
Hi I have a 1995 1.6v solar edition, the boot lock was sticking and now has finally stopped working, the problem is how to gain access? the rear seats are locked in tight, any suggestions? Will drilling the lock work? as in this edition the lock itself is hidden behind a panel in the boot!!

Guest Mattyboy
Hi, I had the same issue on my mk6 Calypso. I used a small hacksaw and sawed through the metal bracket that clips into the back of the rear seat. (It just about fits if you get someone to leverage the back seat forward a bit). Then I crawled into the rear boot through the gap where the back seat normally is and used a Dremmel Tool with a cutting disc to cut off the two retaining bolts that hold the striker plate for the boot lock. Once these are off you should just be able to lift the boot open. Then you can dismantle the trim and take the lock out. There is a company on ebay called Remoco who may be able to refurbish your lock if you send it off to them. I'd phone and ask them. Cheers
Guest Solitaire
Thanks for that, I think I may drill the lock first, hacksaw will be the last option, as the seat won't even budge, and I don't want to tear at my precious interior!
Guest ben smith
slide a long thin screwdriver down into the latch on the lock mechanism and just push the latch back then pull the seat forward while holding the latch back
Guest ben smith
then crawl in the boot and do the same with the boot lock and then lift the lid with the boot latch held up boom boot open no damage
