In the recent heavy rain we have found puddles in the passenger side footwells, more rear than front. The passenger door window has gap where it meets the other window and goes over the roof seal.could this be the cause of the leak or could it be something else.Any ideas or help please folks.

could be many things, battery tray rotten? could well be the gap in the window, when you close the door push the glass, it should pop inder the seal, or you can ajust the window so it sits better.

door rubbers themselvs? also water can get in via the boot and travel to the rear foot wells

I hate the front door rubbers that are attached to the roof, they seem to bend. I been searching for them on ebay but seems it is the rear part ones. I have seen http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-Cabriolet-LH-Inner-Rear-Quarter-Window-Weatherstrip-Genuine-Ford-/350494317584?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item519b16dc10 and http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-MK5-6-Convertible-New-Genuine-Ford-rear-quarter-window-weatherstrip-/280936280853?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item41691b7315 not sure if any of them are correct.

However in the meantime I have come up with a temporary solution. i did try Tigerseal, but it was too awkward and would have needed a long time for it to dry to gain the required shape.

I used stormguard extra thick weatherstrip from B&Q. It costs near £6 and is a 3.5m roll. and seals gaps between 4-7mm thick. I put it on the inner front window rubbers and on top of the roof where the roof touches the windscreen as when I replaced my outer roof it was hard to reattach the clear plastic water channel. I would try post pics later on.

Have replaced the battery tray but we still get water in rear passenger side footwell. The aerial is broken but boot seal is fine.Would the aerial hole be the source of the leak??

Any help welcomed.

Doubt it'll be the ariel, if it's anything like mine u wanna lift your back seat and see if there's any water trails under there, i found mine did and suspect it's coming from here (see picture)

You want to check the pass side rear window fits the side and top rubber seal on the roof too, a good way to coup with this is to carefully remove the rear floor matting under the carpet, you gotta unbolt the frt seat plus rear seat base but then u can dry the car with more ease til you locate the leak.

I've stuck a tarp bungied to the wheels over mine for now, hasn't cured it but it's an improvement lol

Hope this helps, el

i found that the seals and weatherstrips on the passenger side were knackered on mine as the foot wells on both were soaking i just removed the seals cleaned them up and then put them back on and glued them in place which pushed the seals out just enough to stop the leaks but if you need new seals let me know asi am breaking an entire cab depending on the mk cab you have
