So OK, I've decided to put this under "Restoration" because I am slowly replacing the car a piece at a time.

 

Current problems:

 

Green roof and i'm to scared to clean the roof etc

Trim/Rubber bit is coming away from the car at rear passenger side

I JUST REPLACED ALL 4 TYRES :sad: (had to go budget as well which sucks ass)

I now need to pay for the corrosion on my rims to be corrected.

My friend seems to think the engine is over heating as my heat gage never changes and after a 40 minute drive everything else under the bonnet has been fried.

 

I'm sorting out the corrosion thingy later today but can anyone suggest a someone in hampshire to fix the roof? I could post a picture up later, or if anyone could tell me how to fix the actual bit and also if i take my car to a manual hand was will they know how to treat the soft top?

 

Sorry, feel like a bit of a calamity Jane right now :sad:

 

Hope everyone else is OK, and please advise on anything else that you think might crop up soon? Can you believe its had an MOT and a TYRE swap and no "Professional" noticed the slow leak or the corrosion on the rims. Disgusting.

 

Anyway yes, sorry needed to rant, and would love suggestions to help with the above. Thanks as always, Zee x

nothing major really, kind of the stuff you expect with an older car.

1) Green roof, - do you mean it;s covered in moss? Good scrubbing brush and some roof cleaner (autoglym is good). Is it fine otherwise?

2) Try a scrapyard/ebay for a spare wheel. Probably would be cheaper than getting the existing one fixed.

 

3) Trim coming off from passenger side - common problem. I replaced mine with a mint one from a low mileage that was killed off during the scrappage scheme :sad:

4) Overheating engine, best get that one checked out,

 

Overall these Escorts are pretty tough and relaible cars if looked after. Just be sure to have the oil changed every 6 mths and the cambelt changed at 5 years or 60K miles, whichever is sooner.
