Guest 2steppa
Hello..... car is 1990 CVH EFI with stupid pump in stupid tank scenario........ Having replaced all the relevant relays the 'no fuel pump' issue reappeared and I had to be towed home 60 miles! My question, before spending 400 quid to have the pump replaced is; can i test the pump by applying 12v into one side of the cutoff switch in the boot (the side that goes to the pump) and then negative to the chassis? Should the pump run under those conditions? Typical of my luck that I should get this of all the problems I could have with this thing!! Guest dazzersrst
drop the tank by taking the strap off and check the plug where the wirers are well known prob with it i take it you have tryed the purple relay in the foot well and for the cut off switch in the boot you can by-pass it hope this helps
Guest 2steppa
Yes mate, all the relays under the footwell have been changed out for new ones, thought that had solved the issue - but obviously there's more to it... Checked the cutout in the boot for continuity and that's ok. Looked under the back seat there's a tiny hole with a connector under it but you cant really get to anything. Don't know it these pumps normally pack up but it never stops while driving, only when you switch off then go to start up again, which males me wonder if it's the pump motor brushes / commutator worn out? Dropping the tank might be awkward where I park on a gravel drive so might have to whip it in to the garage again next week...
RScab
you'll need to drop the tank check out the cables/connections to the pump but it could also be the pump itself or the cables/connections in the tank
