Admin Paul Posted August 15, 2012 Admin Share Posted August 15, 2012 They are no longer available from Ford and most of them that you find second hand are going to be in the same condition as yours. I had mine stripped and powder coated a few years back with some new rubber mounts fitted but i know some members are getting stainless ones or satin black ones from AS but not cheap at £125.00 each. http://www.autospeci...roduct-869.html

Himanshu
I tried to get several so called engineering firms to fabricate me one up. I ended up having to scrap all of them as they just did not fit, this may be a sign that we do not have the skills left in a depleted engineering base anymore, just like the after market ones on ebay, they are really poor. I Spent a fortune, in the end, I just happened to be searching flea bay and found one, and you know it was going to hurt. just a tad under £300 and that was not new, but someone had got theirs off and powder coated it. It coming to an age and time where the price doesnt really reflect the time, and money you have to spend to keep a Ford on the road. Don't get me wrong I love it, but not being able to find parts is a really downer! I just saw that average 150 miles a year on mine. After road tax, insurance, service, and not including having to by parts this is coming up to nearly £3 per mile that's not including the price of the fuel tyre wear. Items like exhausts, steering racks, and even radiators are hard to source too. I do not use it at all between November- May, and still I get comments by people saying that's an Essex hairdresser's car! The only person who values it is the MOT station, where the guys are in there 50s and say this was the d/b back in the days, and its stunning today, but then say you need a new steering rack! Arrghhhh!
