My Electric Roof Doesn't Work And Nor Does My Back Windows

Please can any one help I am half way through rebuilding my 1987 cabby but now i have come to a stop as i cannot get my head around the electrics to the roof and the back windows.If you connect the roof pump direct to a battery then the roof opens and closes .But reconnect to the switch and the roof stopps working.The switch looks ok . Could the roof wiring be connected to the back window ??

swap the roof switch with a window one, and do you mean a 97 car as 87 dont have rear elec windows

yer sorry the car is 1992 mark 5 couldn't have been more wrong .But thanks i will try changing the switch at the week end
