Zetec Conversion Question

I've put a 2.0 black top zetec in my cab, all fitted in & running...ish, but I'm stumped on 1 issue.

I'm using an inlet manifold like in the picture below (not my actual manifold). The pipe circled in red is where I's confused.

If I leave this pipe open the engine ticks over at about 1400rpm. I'm assuming it's supposed to join the crankcase breather system somewhere so I tried joining it direct to the pipe from the oil separator - engine won't run. If I make a 3 way connection including the breather pipe from the back of the cam cover it'll run, but ticks over at about 600rpm.

What have other people done? Most pics I see of zetecs fitted in earlier cars have a small filter fitted to the cam cover breather so I'm guessing that ain't being used to feed this pipe.

The only other option I can think of is to join it into the inlet system between the filter & the throttle body, which I haven't tried mainly because I ain't got the pipe for that yet but partly cos wouldn't that be the same (restriction wise) as leaving it open?

That helps thanks, tho that suggests my problem is elsewhere  .

Back to the drawing board I guess. One strange thing I did come across on extraefi was they reckoned on there the (2 wire) idle control valve should have a 12v supply to it & a return feed to the megasquirt ecu, but my diagram shows the 1 wire from the icv to the ecu but the other wire going to earth. I think the Ford ecu had it wired this way as well. I may try running a wire direct from the ecu to the icv rather than using the old loom, as this solved me problems with the inlet air temp sensor.

I have noticed on the megatune program the FIdle button btm left of screen keeps flickering on & off.

Don't look like I'll be going to the beach in the cab this weekend
