Guest kevsbluecab
Morning all!! well just about lol Just a quickie, I replaced my standard head unit the other day as it was playing up, only with a cheapo Sony thing that was sitting in me garage, only thing is the radio had the loom chopped so I got it working with connectors etc, however what I want to know is, from the back of the headunit is it only the remote lead that goes to the electric aerial? Or does it take power from there too? Or does the aerial have its seperate power source? MY aerial has never worked but I want to get one soon and just wanted to check that its only the remote from the Headunit and nothing else, as if I do pop one in myself i wont be checing for soemthig thats not there if you know what i mean. Also what colour is the Ford wiring for the remote? usually its blue if i remember correctly, but knowing ford they prob use pink and grey or someting crazy haha. Thanks everyone and summer is nearly here!!!! WHOO WHOO
Guest El87cabi
As you had 1 as standard you'll have the same wiring as me, 1 red and 1 white wire on a plastic plug connection that goes to the ariel. Pls double check with multimeter as i did mine a while ago but the red is your power and i assume the white is your remote but i couldn't pick it up at the dash so i ran my own. Pretty easy to do, if your ford ariels dead cut the plug off that and fit it to the new ariel (red wire only if you have the same problem as me) then u'll prob need some sort of adapter as ford used a screw on plug to connect the signal lead to the ariel. You also want to reuse the original ford ariel wing mounting parts otherwise you'll be drilling a bigger hole in your rear wing.
Guest kevsbluecab
nice one cheer fella, so if I get any electric aerial I can re use the original wing mount? I have seen some on good ol ebay that come with loads of different wing attachments. When the weather picks up I will be getting me multi meter out and playing around!! haha Also the remote wire sends a 12v signal I beleive, is this constant? OR only when radio is on again once again when ut is off? As I spose the use of the relay would let it be a once only signal not a constant feed? Thanks for your help. Guest Knighty1806
Hi My Elec aerial works but I'm not getting any radio stations. Do you know if it has a join in the lead?? I don't think the for unit is to blame as the cd is fine!!
gingergman
Check the connection at the back of the head unit first, and as far as I can remember its a two piece cable
