Guest Cooderkey
Can anyone advise this old man about sorting out a very noisy heater blower please? Quiet at first setting, just about bearable on 2nd setting.3rd and fourth speeds have driven me deaf ! ! What kind of a job for an amateur DIYourselfer? Thanks. allblue
Hi, Maybe it just a dried leaf/leaves stuck? And just needs a good clean out - air ducts and blower motor location. Good luck for the mot.
Guest Cooderkey
Hello Allblue. Your response is appreciated. If we get a dry day tomorrow, I will try and have a look. Is it under the bonnet, or is it up behind the dash? Can't find my way around it . Need a manual I suppose. Library tomorrow perhaps. Do any water pipes need to be connected, - a bit worried about that bit. Cabby sailed through the MoT with no advisory notes. Only done 1,892 miles in last 12 months, so I was hoping for no change, but you never know. Had the first chance too, to ask the bloke at the MoT station if I could look underneath. It looked really clean and tidy. No knocks, scrapes or damage. All the original factory underseal looking in good order. The mechanic was quite enamoured with it. allblue
Hi, Congrats on the MOT pass. Usually in my case, it was a leaf stuck in the air vents themselves. I just used to have it on full blow and fiddle with the air vent dials to free it. The blower itself is at the back of the engine bay. You don't have to remove any heater coolant hoses to get at it though. Edited February 8, 2012 by allblue
Guest Cooderkey
I have given it as best a Hoovering out as I can, but I don't think anything came out, - as it is just as noisy. Also gave it lots of Electrolube cleaner, but still the same. I think it has to be a dismantle job. Nothing comes easy does it? Thanks for the advice at not having to remove any water pipes. Hopefully that makes things just a tad easier. Best regards, Burt.
allblue
Hi Burt, Is the noise itself coming from the actual motor itself (in the engine bay) or does it appear to come from somewhere behind the dash?
