Guest Cooderkey
Having been through this routine myself, on my Cabby and my Rover 45, - if disconnecting and reconnecting the yellow plugs under the seat doesn't cure the problem:- Follow the wires under the carpets to the little panel on the right hand side of the accelerator pedal. Remove the panel, locate the plug where the wires come from the yellow plugs under the seats. Unplug the plugs, make sure the contacts are clean, and put everything back together. I did mine ten months ago, and the problem has never returned. I was advised to do this by an elderly mechanic, - who had vast knowledge on all the Escorts, at the local Ford Dealership. Leave the ignition off when you are doing all this, and leave the plugs apart under the seat, while you are sorting the plug where they join.. In fact, it would be an additional good idea, if you removed the battery terminal lead, - to be absolutely 100% safe. Let me know how you get on. Cheers, Cooder.
