Guest tbirdbooboo
right so going around roundabouts causes my mk3 mfi 1.6 cab bogg out for a bit - im going to take out the tank and clean it and also want to replace the pump as its loud and sounds like its dicking out all the time. can i use a pump from a xr3i efi mk4 ?????? the pump i have is like a cylinder next to the tank, has inlet at one end then the other has 2 wires and a smaller outlet ( do i need to look for some sort of in-tank bits too ) if its not the same as an efi one then does someone have a correct one for sale lol
gingergman
EFI is a totally diffrent pump so wont fit. you can buy new ones on ebay for the MFI for around 40 quid, loads on there

Guest Lee81
I'd be inclined to check the pink relay which controls the fuel pump. Its common for them to be burnt out. They then become intermitent and will switch the fuel pump off when you corner or hit bumps in the road.

Guest Lee81
They can be repaired quite easy if you have some soldering experience. Just have to solder the two terminals on the switch contacts. There easy to identify as they will be black with very little solder around them.
Guest tbirdbooboo
right , i have had a friend check the relay and clean it and stuff and thats working great, saturday we removed the fuel pump and the tank. there was loads of rubbish in both so cleaned them out good and proper and checked all the lines etc. admitidly i did accidently crush a bit of the fuiel line so have had to make a repair with some rubber fuel hose and clamps but its its not leaking. all had been put back in the car and pump works a treat now. went round a roundabout and it bloody boged out again didnt it !!! im watching a full metering injection unit on ebay as im just going to replace everything now until i find the problem, fuel is definately getting to the engine and the spark is good along with new plugs but go round a sharp right and then do a left and the car wants to die so have to let off the throttle for a second and wait . any ideas anyone ??? Guest El87cabi
If by bogged down you mean the car loses all power then i'd start jiggling some cables for you go spending any money on parts, look for any plugs and wires that have been reconnected/replaced are damaged, could just be you have an earthing fault thats making the car cut out.
