Help With The Tension Wire On Roof

Hi im new to having a cabriolet and the one i got the tension wire is about an inch up the roof at the back with two black tabs on the wire how does it actually fit as the previous owner fitted the roof and also where does the little brown wire go on the battery thanks

hi thanks for the reply its a mk3 and the wire is in plain sight does it feed through a channel in the hood or pull the hood down into the channel and the wire is hidden i will be fitting a new wire when i work out how its fitted correctly

it doesnt go through a channel in the roof, it should tighten up and pull under the lip of the car body, it should not be visable at all, its quite a job to get fully under the lip.

it only feeds inside the roof by the rear side windows, be carefull with the new wire though, they like to snap!

hi ginge, just noticed this topic on the roof cable, ive just put a new 1 on this weekend, (by the way, car hoods northern £25, fords £18) and its fitted nicely, but below the rear window you can still see the cable, ok round the corners and sides, any ideas how to hide the rest of it ?

Thanks for the tips Gingerman, i must replace my cable to be able to put on loops for the hoodcover, reading your tips it seems to be able to do it by my self. :smile:
