Guest pleco
Hi im new to having a cabriolet and the one i got the tension wire is about an inch up the roof at the back with two black tabs on the wire how does it actually fit as the previous owner fitted the roof and also where does the little brown wire go on the battery thanks
gingergman
the wire runs around the back and has a threaded end both sides, remove the rear speaker pods and you will see the ends of them and the nut to loosen. brown=negative. assuming its a mk4 aswell
Guest pleco
hi thanks for the reply its a mk3 and the wire is in plain sight does it feed through a channel in the hood or pull the hood down into the channel and the wire is hidden i will be fitting a new wire when i work out how its fitted correctly
gingergman
it doesnt go through a channel in the roof, it should tighten up and pull under the lip of the car body, it should not be visable at all, its quite a job to get fully under the lip. it only feeds inside the roof by the rear side windows, be carefull with the new wire though, they like to snap! Guest dicko601
hi ginge, just noticed this topic on the roof cable, ive just put a new 1 on this weekend, (by the way, car hoods northern £25, fords £18) and its fitted nicely, but below the rear window you can still see the cable, ok round the corners and sides, any ideas how to hide the rest of it ? gingergman
hi mate, you gotta slowly tease it under, i used a screwdriver with a cloth over the end of it, push down and up and it should start to go, dont over tighten the cable at both ends while doing it as i found it harder to work the cable under
