have only had my mk3 cab for a few weeks now and with all this rain its got wet lol. the car seems to have a recent roof which is in fantastic condition but i have just noticed that my boot is soaked ! , i have not had a chance to properly look into this but i know the boot lid seal is fine and so is the fuse box area of the car. is there a known prob with these at all??? would love some help here lol .

previous owner said had allways been garaged and never went out in therain - yeah i know why lol like a mobile shower lol

Hi I had the same problem on my mk3 cab,

It turned out on mine it was the joint between the rear quarter and the panel where the roof joins to the seam sealer there had gone hard and cracked .

i stripped all the boot out got my missus to spray the hose pipe on it while i layed inside the boot with a torch.

Luckily she let me out ...

hope this is some use for you water manages to get through the smallest gaps.

my mk4 was leaking in the boot through the hole in the rear wing where the aerial pokes through. check your seal around the aerial and the seams in the roof. mine was spilt there too n caused the boot to get wet.

well its taken a while to find but i think ive fixed it . first it looked like it was the holes where the rear bumper bolts on so i removed the bumper and sealed the holes then refitted it. , did water testing an hour later and it was better but was still getting in. i checked everything imaginable , had the rear lights out and noticed the rubber gaskit for them was a bit poo so i made it a bit better but still i was getting water in and could see it coming in from the pass side bumper bracket but it turned out that under the pass side rear light you have the weld from factory for the rear panel and side wing - just a slight slight bit of the weld was letting water in so i sealed it up and hey presto no more leaks :-)

took ages to find but i finally did it , at the same time i dried out and re painted the speare whel well and drilled 2 very small holes so that if there is ever a build up of water , it can drain out again.
