Guest athens13
Can someone please tell me what exactly do you call the rubber parts that support the engine? I can sway my engine easily by hand and that's a problem! My MK4 cab is running a turbo for the past 25,000 miles no problems, but I guess the extra HP chewed on the rubber mounts. Went to the mechanic and he's going to change them soon as we get some new ones. I want to research the parts on the internet first to get an idea about pricing etc, but I'm not sure about the tecnical terms... The ones in front and back of the engine are really bad. Should I renew the side mounts as well, what do you think?
gingergman
gearbox mounts then, both on the gearbox cradle?
Guest athens13
Thaks! I think that's what the mechanic called them in Greek . Do you know if they are just rubber, or do they have a metal case, is he just going to replace the rubber parts on the metal cradle?
gingergman
if you buy them new it will be just the rubber part. also if the side engine mount is fine then i wouldnt bother changing it.
Guest athens13
O.K thanks again! The mechanic said the side ones look alright but I thought I might as well change them all. I'm sure once all this is sorted out the cab is going to be a fine ride. No more strange vibrations and squeeks.
