Escort Mk4 Zetec Conversion - Won't Switch Off!

Just completed my 1.8 zetec conversion on my base spec Escort (used to be a 1.4CVH carb) and experiencing a slight issue before I MOT it - it won't switch of even with the key removed.

I've attempted to put a diode in between alternator blue wire and also tried the 5W indicator bulb method but its still the same. I have read 'gavintwopies' posts regarding the same problem - but i'm unclear of what diode to use and where to place it within the loom.

Also, where the best place to get an ignition feed from, I'm using a lead that was originally on the carb - its definitely live with the key on '2' and dead when the ignition is off

Any help, most appreciated.

the reason i used the 5watt bulb then moved onto a diode of the rite rating was on the MFi loom the feedback from the sensors ment that the loom stayed live once turned off, as yours is carb the live feed for either the anti diesel valvein the carb or the old coil live will turn off when the key is turned off it must be the way you have made your stand alone relay/fuse pack set up did you follow me withthat part of the thread or did you just rig it up as a direct drive as it souldslike the ecu and fuel pump are not getting switched off?

Thanks for getting back to me, see attached wiring diagram I drew up - the car runs like a dream apart from this issue.

The ignition feed is defo off when key out as I tested it with the meter. It was the old 'bullet' connector from the old carb.

I've also tried the Xrtwo.com wiring diagram - which is slightly different.

How do you mean 'direct drive'.

I've just rewired it as per your diagram, the engine started first time. But still wont turn off, in the diagram for pin85 on the fuel pump relay is it just pin22 that gets connected to it?

All sorted, bought a 6A 50V rectifier diode from Maplins for 99p and put it between he alternator and idiot light and it works.

Part number if anyone wants it us UK59P.

Thanks for the help.
