Hi all,

Just got round to sorting out the surface rust on my 1986 Xr3i White Cab, I bought The following spray brilliant white,

Ford code B/XSC/691, Holts code LF68. After all the prep and waiting, it turns out that this spray is not the same colour as the car, its more of a creamy white.

Under the bonnet it says BA3. Have I been a mong and bought the wrong spray??

Please can someone help? Which paint do I buy??

Thanks. Lee

did you know there are 9 different shades of diamond white with the code BA3. the only way you can get a very very close watch is to take the car to a paint suppliers and have them colour match the paint, but did you also know it depends on the ammount of paint you want mixed depends on the actual colour that comes out a tin as its worked out on per litre as there is such a small amount of other colours that go into mixing white. so if there is say a ml of red to go into a litre of paint getting a half ml for a 500ml can is near damn impossible, so in my opinion its best to get 1 litre of paint mixed and divided between 2 tins of spray that way you get the correct match and also have spare if you need it for future.

Thanks all for your response, I've just bought some more spray from EBay, the seller states that it is BA3 and even says it will match the 1986 diamond white escort xr3i cab. I'll belive it when I see the match on the car. If its a wrong match then I will go to a paint specialist and get a litre mixed. WIll be hard to find as currently live in Germany. Better to have slightly wrong shade of white than rotten surface rust..... Thanks again......

really happy to help a fellow member out, but believe me the lsightly wrong shade really does get noticed as i found out when they couldnt get the correct dose of red into the mix. looked great under strip lights but daylight it was more like a greeny white colour. so wasnt too happy. but there must be paintshop suppliers in germany.
