Guest demonteddy
Hi Just bought a new pump from ebay for the escort, Its only got two wires going to the plug mine has loads it stated off a mk4 1991, they also sold other mk4 stuff that where just like what i have fitted in my car. What i need to know is ... Does this come from a mk4 or a mk5? hopefully its a later mk4 cab part its exactly like mine except for the wiring even the same serial number Bill Edited September 29, 2011 by demonteddy

Guest dazzersrst
its a mk4 1 and the 2 wires from the pump should plug into the relays in the boot
Guest demonteddy
thought it was, But mine has more than two wires, Will check tomorrow and put a pic up, The daft thing is when I bought the cab the rams where disconected, the prevoius owner said it didnt work, so got a replacement pump. thought I would just try and see what was wrong with mine, turned the ignition to number two pressed the roof button and the pump worked. the rams moved up and down. I am going to reconect the rams to the hood and see if it will operate under load.
Guest demonteddy
Well mine is original to the car, wiring looks part of the loom and not added to. Here is a photo of my set up. its a 1988 cab if that makes any difference.
gingergman
that looks right to me, looks like the main plug is the one you havent photgraphed, you can just see it behind the pump. the connector you have taken a pic of is just part of the loom for the roof
Guest demonteddy
Hi Just had a look, Yes the other connection is behind the pump, how did I mss that. Another question how does the pump connect to the hood? have attached a photo off the area the silver bit looks like the same part as the boot strut connects to, maybe I have a piece missing, the new pump didnt come with anything either though Edited September 30, 2011 by demonteddy
gingergman
you need the pin with a circlip on, the bottom should need one aswell i think? people do just use bolts but they end up going slack. i think i have a full set of the pins in me ramdom box of bits! Guest demonteddy
Brilliant, could you PM me a price for them, and is it ok to post them for me. At least I wil be able to try the pump out with the hood conected. I think its best to use the correct parts Bill
Guest demonteddy
Hi just been looking at the pump rams, I have the bottom bolts, the correct ones with the pin, I dont have the top bolts, I tried fitting the bottom bolts/pins in the top holes but the diameter was too wide. So looks like the top pins are a smaller diameter than the bottom ones. Hopefully you can find some of the top ones, I dont fancy doing a botch job using bolts, Bill
