Hello all,

Just signed up to the forum and wanted to say hello.

Got my hands on a 1991 H reg 1.6 efi with 65k on clock, she has been standing for a while and after replacing battery today had car running. . . . . . . so far so good, small oil leak but hopefully nothing to major.

When i press the roof button all that happens is there is a click from relay on right hand side of steering wheel and if i unhook roof from above windscreen i can gently move back maybe 6".

Does anyone have any ideas about problem and can roof be put down manually? sounds like a silly question but i dont have a handbook for car.

Kind regards

Rob

Hi Rob, welcome to the club  re your hood question, if you go in the boot and look at the roof motor you should have a T shaped screw on the side, if you open this about a turn it'll allow you to drop the top manually, thats how i had to to put mine down originally though mine's a mk4 and i'm guessing yours is a mk5, hope its the same. All the best, el

Thank you el,

I have turned the T screw and now am able to manually drop roof, just need to sort electrics out now, next problem I cant get into back seats because leaver on side of front seats will not release, Is there an electric connection for these???

Now thats a tricky 1, It is a mk5 yes? I always assumed all the seat with the back release up near the headrest worked by a cable, if they were mine i'd try lubing the moving parts u came see, then employ a bit of well controlled force on the lever - but if it goes wrong you could cost yourself a lever. Other option is to release the seat back at the catch point, to be honest without seeing it i'm not too sure, my advice is post your question in the Bodywork Problems section of the site with a couple of pics of your seats and someone bond to have the answer

Yes it is a mk5, I will try to lube up moving parts, if that fails I will post in bodywork section with pictures as advised.

Many thanks

Rob
