Guest Ant
Hi guys, I replaced the thermostat in my cabby as the old one was faulty. Now since then my water level drops everytime i drive it??? I fill it to the max mark and go out for a 20min drive and it will drop to half way?? and it will keep going down unless i top it up? I have no obvious signs of leaks and there is no water in my oil so where is it going???? It only drains when the engine is running? Any help much appreciated Regards Ant

Guest Savage
I think it's really thirsty engine fairies. Nobody knows how to stop these water stealing angels, all I know is that should you run out of water for them to drink, they start eating your engine parts until it ceases to run. They truly are the nastiest of all the known fairy family. At least the tooth fairy leaves you money.
Guest Lee81
Sounds a stupid question but did you make sure the thermostat was fitted the correct way round with the air release hole facing upwards. If not the engine wont bleed itself of air meaning you have air pockets causing water level to vary and also hotspots where the fluid boils. this will release water vapour from the header tank cap as the system over pressurises. Just an idea
Guest Savage
Ok, there's a grown up answer. Lee's seems more plausible.
