Guest AstonB
Quick question regarding a couple of connectors on the roof wiring loom. Bought the complete kit from GingerMan from his ebay ad. Fitting to an MFi cab, found a yellow plug which spurs to the stereo wiring, plugged that into the 'adaptor' on the roof loom, like so: That should be the 'ignition on' side of the wiring sorted? (12v power will be changed from regular feed as i'm locating battery in boot floor in custom box) Need to know what the plugs in background here are for? (They're coming out of the loom near the under dash relays): And finally these (coming out of the loom just before the plug which connects the mini loom at the pump end) They're like female bullet connectors. No idea what they're for though!: Any help appreciated. And excuse the state of the car, it's bare shell and been stripped of all its paint on the outside (fibre stripping discs make a mess!). Also while here, is there anywhere to get replacement seals for the rams? I think these ones may weep a little and i dont want to put all the kit in to find i have to take it all out since im putting so much time and effort into the project. Cheers in advance guys!! gingergman
glad it turnt up ok, the last ones plug into the rear of the speaker pods, altho yours may not have them, they dont need to be connected for it to work,
Guest AstonB
Yeah safe and sound, well packaged too! Any idea what they're actually for? And how are the cables for the rams usually routed? i might mount the pump in the 'spare wheel area' whilst modifying it for a battery box to save need for a pump cover etc. Possibly swap to braided hose if i do that. Any ideas on the middle picture? They dont look like earth's as they're shielded and there's an earth right next to them. Had a quick look last night but couldnt see where they went to. gingergman
there for saftey, with the roof cover on it wont let you try to put the roof up lol the cables for the rams go along where the back of the bottom seat is, there should be some tabs you can pull forward and put them behind to keep in place
Guest AstonB
Cheers mate, i gather if i keep the cables away from earth then the roof will work fine? And my cab doesnt have those tabs im pretty sure, i might see about getting some suitable hose and hiding them in the wings/box section under the 'parcel shelf'. Any idea who would do seals for the struts??
gingergman
yeah dont earth them or it wont work !! thought all the cabs had the tab things, might just be a extra for lekki roof models then
Guest AstonB
I'll have to double check on the tabs. 90% sure mine doesnt have any being an 88. Any photo of how the original pump was mounted? It'll help avoid any odd noises when i relocate it.
gingergman
the car it was from was a F plate 88, no pics of one mounted tho, goes snug up in the left hand side of the boot
gingergman
i should also add, i turnt the T piece on the end of the pump to let the roof down, not too sure if i turnt it back lol, so if it dont work 1st time then give that a twist
Guest AstonB
lol i will do mate, it's a LONG way off being a finished car yet though. Probably aim for first show to be classic ford show 2012 or at a push ford fair 2012. Still lots to do before my final spec list is met
