Guest danielson Posted June 30, 2011 Share Posted June 30, 2011 can anyone help? mk4 xr3i cab 89, stopped at the garage the other day to check water level oil level, on that well hot day, but when i opened the coolant header tank water just came pouring out till it was empty and keeps doing this but it does'nt read as overheating, i've changed the thermostat since but still happening, any help please thanks, danielson Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest shaun Posted June 30, 2011 Share Posted June 30, 2011 you shouldnt open the expansion tank when it hot as it will throw all the water out!!!!!!!! as it under pressure did you put cold water back in?????? as you have changed the thermostate did you put the right 1 in and in the right way? it sounds like you either have air lock or you've blown the head gasket.
