cheers paul that looks easy but my problem is that im only changing the outer skin not the complete frame although it would be easier to do this than just a new skin but ill figure it out now that i k now where the retaining spring wire is so ill take my time and hope it dont rain?

good luck mate, not a job for the faint hearted! let us know how you get on

will do mate i priced a firm up here in edinburgh and they want 170 to fit the hood? i just bought a cream hood skin on ebay brand new for twenty quid to go on my white cabbie as the black one is totally shot to pieces its just till i source a full hood and frame as mine leaks like hell and i dont think the hood was fitted properly on my car as the hood doesnt meet at the rubber seal just above the front windows as it tapers back to the rear of the car and leaves a tiny gap where water comes in not fun driving about with a water proo fjacket on and a soggy bum so ill need to do the hood asap.

pm your email address and ill email you the intructions i got from a company that supplied me an outer skin. Its not an overly hard job to do to be honest just make sure you follow how the old one came off , mainly the tension cables. Get hold of a good contact glue and pop rivet gun before you start. Also i would have found the job easier to do if i had took the whole roof off first as this is only 3 bolts each side and you can them take the roof indoors and do it. the other reason for this is if you do it while the frame is on the car when you undo the retaining bar at there is a small collet that falls out and if your not carefull it falls into the inner sill. PM me your email and ill send over the instructions and my contact number and you can call me if you get stuck.
