Guest Delboybully
My k reg cabbie leaks through the drivers door window When i shut the drivers door ,the window doesnt fit snuggly onto the seal and water gets in. I had a little look at it today and if i push the window a little when i shut the door the window fits correctly. I compared the play in the drivers window to the passenger window and there is more play in the drivers window. What would cause this, the windows guides worn maybe? If so is this a big job to fix? I am fed up of getting a wet bum when i take my baby out for a spin!!!! And before anyone asks, yes the window is wound (if that is the correct term with electric windows) all the way up Edited January 28, 2011 by Delboybully
gingergman
im not too sure if this will help as this is refrence for a mk4, but may possibly be the same, the window can be ajusted to sit higher or lower with a bolt thats behind the door card, it might be worth finding out if yours has thisor not, then you can ajust accordingly, if not then sorry, i only do mk4s lol
Guest Delboybully
Sorry but i should of explained things better. The window goes up far enough but it doesnt go into the car enough. When the door is shut, the window is like the door is open a little. So if i push the window towards the car as i shut the door, everything looks ok and thw window sits against the seal. any ideas? Guest Delboybully
I have had another look at my cabby door today. If i lower the window the smallest amount the door shuts lovely. So for the time being i can at least shut the door without it leaking water all over the seat. It seems, gingerman, you were right to look into the height of the window. I shall have a look at this later in the year. There are 2 reasons for this, the first is that i have loads of work to do in my home due to adding an extension. The second being that it is freezing out!!!!!! I have a Haynes manual (the old car owners bible!!!) so i shall have a look in that to see if it mentions this window adjuster!!!!! Guest derrick
ive got the same prob with a leaky drivers window on my car and if i close the door and then lift the window it seals but ive also been told that later mk6 -7 cabbies have a built in gutter on the window rubber to deflect the water but i cant find any at all ? Guest john franklin
this may sound crazy but maybe the window is to far up, i had this gap on my mk4 and found that if i shut the door with window DOWN and then wound it UP it seals on the rubber better, then when you close door from outside its where it should be. regards john
Guest theprophet1978
be carefull when you adjust it as i had the same problem, it didnt sit right so adjusted it so it did then the damn thing leaked, so put it back to normal and as long as i remember to push the glass at the top when i close the door it doesnt leak, a small inconvienance but no where near as inconvienant as a wet ass
