gingergman
right, i know fords are 38ET, i have some alloys that are 35ET, i spoke to someone and they said they would fit if i put a spacer on them as if i dont then the wheel will hit the suspention strut. but then ive been looking on good ole google and read that a lower ET will bring the wheel outwards and therfore would not hit the strut, so now im kinda confused, and its not easy to try and fit the wheels to see what happens as its on axel stands in my garage! any ideas on fitment and if i will need spacers or not? cheers! Guest Alanman
The et35 will stick out 3mm more than ford et38.
gingergman
nice one alan, i suppose you would know all about offsets etc, what with your mega rims! shes lowerd 60mm but dont see as 3mm would cause issues on the arches, he hopes!!! Guest Alanman
3mm should be okay. But fingers crossed. We're on about negative et70 at the back. lol.
Guest Rustler
From the info I've got in hand ..Escorts from 1980> can use wheels with an OFFSET of 35mm to 42mm max, can any1 confirm this?
Guest Alanman
I cant confirm it for definate, but that sounds about right. Wider wheels will need a bigger ET to sit the same in the arch as the narrower wheel. That difference of 7mm will be the difference for 1 extra inch wider from the smallest wheel to the biggest. I know a little about offsets and ET but it still confuses the hell out of me. lol.
Guest Alanman
according to >> THIS << a half inch wider alloy on the same offset will stick out 6mm more.
gingergman
i bolted two on, a front and a rear, no problems, just hope when its back on the ground the 60mm drop wont cause a problem, if it does i will be seriously un-happy
gingergman
i should also add the wheels are only 15 inch with a 45 profile tyre, more chance with a 45 i reckon??
gingergman
they fit! i put the car back on the ground yesterday, went down the road in it and they seem to be ok. 45 profile tyres make my mud flaps hit the ground tho , had 50 profile before. but on the whole, im pleased they fit ok
