Guest shaggy
I have just stripped and re-built a cvh turbo engine for my escort. I know the engine needs to be run in for the 1st 1000 miles and then have an oil and filter change. what i want to know is what oil to use as some people say use the cheapest of cheap, some say use mineral oil, and some say a semi if anyone can shed some light on this for me it will be very much appreciated thanks in advance
Guest Lee81
Use 10 40 Mineral oil for the first 1000 miles. If your serious about running in the best is to change the oil at 500 miles to mineral oil again. Then at 1000 miles onto something like 15w 50 Silolene Pro R. CVH turbo engines run so well on this and don't use hardly any oil. Don't use any synthetics until it is run in. Also if you have new cam on first startup keep the engine at around 3000 rpm for 20 mins to let the cam bed in properly.
