Guest Gregg
Hi, I have a very weird squeaking sound coming from my engine bay. Not is not the engine as when you push down on the rocker cover it squeaks. After pushing and pulling lots of areas in the engine bay I believe it could be the water pump. Not sure if it is loose but I seem to not be losing water but I have noticed the engine seems a little more hotter than usual. Can it come loose without losing water? I have own the car 7 years and nevermind changed it but from time to time I have noticed a little dip on the sump so I am guessing it maybe leaking but not 100%. Is it worth replacing anyway, just in case?
gingergman
do you mean when you push the rocker cover it stops squeaking? if the water pump is failing it will get hot quick and will no doubt leak alot, it will leak more when the car is standing not being used as it aint being pumped round the engine, if it is the water pump then do the cambelt at the same time as the belt runs the pump
Guest Gregg
If you press the engine down is squeaks like a mouse or a small bird. I believe it is my engine mount now hence why my gears aren't changing smoothly. The water pump is now fitted but I am unable to tighten the belt enough. Is there a special way of doing this? Guest Gregg
Resolved the noise today. Ended up to be the engine mount. All sorted. Now on to the griding sound.
