Guest Gregg
Hi, I have just spent 4 years working on my escort xr3i cab mk4. I have changed all suspension, brakes, bushes, nut/bolts, etc. I took the car out yesterday for the first time and the car felt like it was driving with four flat tyres. I checked the tyre pressure and that was fine. I was a little disappointed, as after all the work I carried out I was thinking it would feel quite shape and tight but it felt wrost than before. When turning it feels like there is a lot of play in the steering. Could it just need a good tracking/wheel alignement or does this sound like more a steering column/rack issue? I haven't done anything with that side of thing yet but wishbone and bushes has been changed. Please help G
Guest Lee81
If everything is new its going to feel quite stiff until they wear in. Also if it hasn't run for 4 years then it will take some use to get it all loose and working right. If you have done all that work then you need it tracking up asap it will probably be way off. Guest Gregg
I'll take it this weekend for a good tracking. I'll see if that is any better. Thanks

Guest Gregg
Tracking has now been done. It was way off. It's a lot better but not as sharp as I was hoping. Maybe it's the steering rack as that is the one thing I didn't do.
