Gearbox Oil Leak?

Hello everyone...after finally MOT'ing, insuring and taxing I took my mk4 3i cab for a 40ish mile run and on returning home I suddenly have a pretty bad leak which wasn't there before? On quick inspection it doesn't seem to be coming from anywhere on the engine but around the gearbox and the area on the nearside is covered in oil...

What is the likely source? I think I will clean everywhere up first and see if I can detect where it's coming from but thought I'd ask to see if there's any likely areas to check first.

Oh and just to add...the gearchange was becoming quite difficult!

Thanks in advance for any help...

Is it gearbox oil or engine oil?

It's hard to tell to be honest? Is there any way to easily distinguish the two as I thought if the gearbox oil was old anyway that it would look like engine oil? I would say it had the appearance of engine oil?

Well I got home and put her on the ramps to have a look...wiped everything and seemed to be coming from above the gearbox and on further investigation found what was happening. Somehow there's oil coming from the rocker cover breather hose into the air box, through the brand new filter! and then dripping through the base of the air box as there's a hole been drilled in it. Then it's dripping onto the gearbox and driveshafts and spraying everywhere! Never would have expected this!

Does airfilter.jpganyone know why the oil is leaving the rocker like this?????
