Guest fordinfrance
My problem is that only one of the roof frame location pins fits in its hole on the windscreen top. The locking handle won't go far enough forward to locate the hook on the other side without forcing it and even then the pin won't locate in the hole. It' as if the metal hinge at the back do not allow enough movement but I cannot see any adjustment. Can it be adjusted and if not what can I do. I've measured the car and it's straight and square.Any help would be appreciated.
Guest markeyboy
on a mk4 (possiably the other mks as well) there are tensioners behind the rear 1/4 side panels on the inside, the cable runs from one rear 1/4 out and around the rear of the car and into the other side if you slacken these you will be able to pull the roof foward more and may help get it alligned correctly
Guest Lee81
The hooks can be turned in and out to make longer or shorter so they can catch. Its worth noting that the car is not up on stands or other support as the escort cabby chassis flexs alot and you won't be able to close the roof once opened if its up on stands. It needs to be sitting on its wheels. The hood frame could be out of place. The best way to get it in place is to loosen the three bolts each side holding the rear frame to the car body. Close the roof into the correct position. The bolts should now be tightened. Failing all this its possible the frame is bent in someway in which case you will need a new one

Guest fordinfrance
Hi mate - did you sort this because I am having the same problem. Thanks Benni. Hello benni, sorry for the delay in seeing your post. The short answer is "no"! This seems to be a common problem but nobody seems to know the answer.I have not found a cable in the rear quarters, I have loosened off the bolts but it makes no difference.I don't know what to do, sorry.
