Help Electric Roof Not Working

hi to all

can anyone help me i have a 1995 escort cab for some reason the electric roof dont operate when i press the switch i can hear the motor making a noise but the roof does not move ther is electric making its way to the motor .can any one help please

if the motor is making a noise then it sounds like the cog has worn out so u might need to buy a new 1 which there is a link on here

would check oil level in the pump 1st make sure it got oil.......then as richie said try cog or relay

1 other to ask is Cabby-tech he's top with electric's

as said mate check the oil level in the pump,

 

i think it will more than likley be the cog thats lost a few teeth!

Useful tip if it is the roof motor cog.

 

This is a known problem with the later (black bodied) power roof pumps, fitted to later (Oct 1996) onwards MK6 Escort Cab models, & 1997 onwards VW Cab models.

 

A repair kit is available, but don't pay £40 ++ for it. VW dealers will supply you the exact repair kit for £17. Ford being idots do not sell this repair kit.

 

For reference, the part number for the repair kit is 1EO 871 687.

 

Oh and buy some roof oil from VW too. Its only £7 for a 1L bottle.
