Hi guys. Having just bought a mk4 xr3 CVH Bosch K-Jetronic Cabriolet, here i am with my load of questions. Thanks in advance for the great forum

 

1. The tachometer is dead. I love having a tacho and would really like to make it work. I cant seem to find anywhere a description on where it is plugged and how it works. Any help.

2.This bit on the distributor was very loose - what is it? I mcguyvered it with some "pig tails"

3 Oily distributor. When i took a pek under the loose bit (see 3) I noticed that the thing was pretty oily on the inside. How bad is that?. What could it be a symptom of?

4 Disconnected connectors. Someone who had the cab before me went to grat trouble to disconnect and secure some connectors - there is a blue one and a brown one. Why did they do this? Where do theese connectors go?

The tacho.. This is fed by the live feed of the coil, have a look around and make sure all wires are complete and secure.. It may also be a loose connection in the dial set (does the needle move at all?)..remove the clock andcheck everything is plugged in

 

The oil leek may be caused by the distributor O ring seal being perished. It leaks as oil is forced up into the rockers..easy enough fix just unbolt the distriubutor and refit a new seal

 

The second brown plug looks to be a cold start valve plug. To the left On the inlet there should be 3 small breather pipes, just under them is the cold start valve switch..check to see that there is a connection on there and if not if that 1 reaches
