Guest Stally08
hi all opinions please, because my petrol cap is knackered and most likely beyond repair i was thinking bout relocating it or try and put this petrol cap on on it and do a bit of fibre glassing to make it fit what ya reckon? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aero-locking-fuel-filler-cap-ring-VW-Golf-Mk1-Caddy_W0QQitemZ310182636024QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item48385369f8#ht_1552wt_939

Guest Stally08
i was thinking of cutting out the rot, fibre glassing the filler neck onto the body then putting the locking filler neck on, problem is that filler cap is for a vw i cant find one for a escort there is the petrol cap and this is what i plan on using views please Edited March 22, 2010 by Stally08
Guest suffolk04
go to any local parts place and they should be able to get them. i had to get one for mine cost £10 i think, maybe less. as for the rot, mine went the night before it's mot, i had to hold the filer neck from under the wheel arch, and remove the cap(siezed on) I just held the filer neck in place, and used fibre glass to bridge the gap. 1 year on, and its still fine, but looks abit of a mess with the cap off. gingergman
have you got a plan for the petrol cap yet?
Guest Alanman
I'd check that fuel cap will be okay for what you're planning. That ring just looks like a shiny trim and if it is then that cap will be made to fit a VW neck, and will NOT fit to your Ford neck. I'd go for the body shop otion to repair it back to standard OR go full hog and get a propper Mocal cap and filler neck. The Mocal stuff will cost you about £120, a little more than the cap you've seen but it will do the right job.

gingergman
it could be welded and and repaired, mine has been welded all around the filler neck
