Guest Suede
Hi mates. I have a question; is it possible and "easy" to replace the clutch without removing the engine on a XR3i -88? Does any of you have a description how to? I have experience of clutch work on rear wheel drive cars and that what quite "easy", but no experience of the Escort. gingergman
hello mate, yes you can replace the clutch leaving the engine in the car, its not to hard
RobMk4TwinCarb
I have done my clutch with everything in the car last spring and then again to change the thrust bearing about 2 months later (crappy ebay part). I undone the rollbar and both bottom arms, supported the engine and undone the gearbox cradle, dropped the gearbox and cracked on. Well it wasnt quite that easy stupid abs modulators can be a pain in the arse. It's a bit tight getting it back on but there is room.
