Central Locking To Boot

Hi all,my MK4 doesnt have central locking on the boot to which im finding really annoying,is it possible to fit it to the boot and what car do i need to source the parts from,and are there provisions on the existing loom for connecting it all up

Hi Emmy you got c/locking on doors?if you have then wiring should be there you can use escort mk4 and orion mk2(mk4 escort shape)did wire mine up tho left it manual.

Thanks Shaun,Thats handy as my husband runs a two mk2 Orions so he should be able to source the parts easily enough,do you know where abouts in the boot we will find where to plug it all in or will it be in a similar place to the Orion if so he can look at one of his to find out :smile:

the wiring run for c/locking should be down in rear qtr panel that were it joined on to main loom for my mk4 e reg. i didnt bother to wire mine back up.....

it run's up the inside of boot lid and where the hinge is there are holes for in to come thro and had rubber boot over wire and had clips for rear shelf. connector round rear arch area(that's why i said orion cos of wiring)hope this help's some looms didnt have the plugs tho.....mines i used mk4 xr3i hard top

fair enough lol, just ive never seen it on a mk4 cab, and never seen anywhre where a motor in the bootlid could go

 

i fitted a solenoid in the bootlid in my mk3 but never got round to putting in the live feed for it.one of my many jobs lol. :blush: i also had to weld a small 10mm nut to the lock mech to take the rod from the solenoid.
