Ok took the cabby for MOT and it failed on emissions(was expecting worse),took it home changed oil,oil filter, air filter and plugs put a bottle of petrol magic through it went for a blast then back to MOT. Guess what it failed again, tester is an ok guy and spent about 20 mins on fast idle tryin to clear it out.Next thing we know theres steam everywhere so had to stop.

Anyway turns out fan not working so i bridged it and ive orderd a new temp sensor. Can someone tell me where the other temp sensor is (one for temp gauge).Ive been told that the faulty temp sensor could be making the car overfuel as it still thinks its cold is this possible?

Also told could be the Lambda but i cant seem to find it anywhere on manifold/downpipe,would my car have one? Its a 92 K reg 1.6 Efi.

Any help with the above would be great as would any other ideas as to whats causing high emissions.

Cheers Panda.

if it has a cat, it will have a lambda sensor somewhere on the exhauts manifold and before the cat.

If its a cvh engine, the temp sensor is on the front right hand side and bolted into the cylinder head with a black plug on the end of it(has a thin wire going onto plug)

If its the air temp sensor you want, its bolted into the inlet manifold, and has a black or white (can't remember which) multi plug.

If its a zetec, should be in simmilar places i would of thought. could be the cat thats knackered, depending on how bad and what part of the emissions its failing on.
