Guest markini5 Posted January 9, 2010 Share Posted January 9, 2010 got a few big problems with the wiring in my escort cab, brought the car only for the wiring to have been bodged up by a previous owner. believe car used to have a cvh efi engine as its a xr3i cab on a g reg in light blue met. now running rs turbo engine with mfi wiring, runs perfect wen running, some how their is a power drain and every morning the battery is dead, igntion battery sign still on wen keys out, thats a new symtom. got kenlow fan on front but its wired up on all time, there a lot of loose wires dont know where they go, rev counter work wen it feels like it, water temp not working cant find the plug to connect up to engine, no boost gauge, mirrors dont work, heated fron screen dont work, central locking dont work, ad to take fuse out it just keeps trying to lock it self, heated rear screen is on as soon as you put key in ignition, got new battery but cant leave it connected. can i mix and match wiring looms? or do i need entire mfi loom from engine right through car? if anyone can help that would be great. thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest markeyboy Posted January 10, 2010 Share Posted January 10, 2010 you can mix and match the wiring looms, use the one that was origionally in the car to handle all the creature comforts (central locking windows heated screens etc) then use the loom from the rst to handle the engine side of things, there are a few guys on here who have done it using 2 looms on here, not having done it myself i cant offer much more help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest markini5 Posted January 18, 2010 Share Posted January 18, 2010 nearly finished installing the s2 loom, only prob now is the engine wont start up, its try to then dont, fuel pump is working, checked plugs the spark is orange it should be blue, how do i sort this out. before i changed everything over it started first time everytime. sounds to me like their somert wrong with loom ive installed. any help guys. thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The reason im asking is im about to install a rs turbo complete engine and lsd box and i have bought a rst loom and ecu's to go with the engine but im wondering do i need to replace the whole loom or can i just get away with the engine compartment loom?
