Water In The Footwell, Clunk From The Drive Chain

After the recent heavy rain I found a large puddle of water in the passenger footwell. I don't think is coming in via the roof seals as I had a plastic bonnet over the roof.

I think I read somewhere that if the battery tray has ruted this could cause this type of problem, any advice here.

The car has now been garaged so I can do the jobs that I've been planning and collecting parts for so I'd like to fix this at the same time.

Also I'd like to see if anyone can give some advise regarding a drive/suspension question. After the engine has warmed up, a mile or two, when the clutch is released after changing gear there is a light clunk, I think its from the nearside. Not sure if its a diff/clutch/UJ problem? or nothing at all. One thing I did notice was when I first got the car the front tyres were worn on the inside edge, I change the wheels so now not sure if it was both front tyres or just one and if so what side.

Sorry to go on.

Here's hoping for some sound advice.

hello, is it a mk4 ? the water in the passinger footwell will almost certanly be the battery tray, very commen and also happend to my old cab.

as for the other problem im not sure but im sure someone else will give you advise on it :salut_gb:

Thanks for the help, its a MK5. I've looks around the battery tray and there appears to be some holes in it? Haven't removed the batter yet as I just wanted to get the car under cover and dried out first.

Thanks again.

if its the same as a mk4 the tray does have holes through it, take the battery off and have a good nose and poke with a screwdriver all around that area. or get someone to tip water there when your sat in the car to see if she springs a leak.

Hi it would seem to me the battery tray has got a hole but as Gingergman man said have a poke around. As for the clunking it could be the wishbones they are pretty common on mk5.But with out lookong at it its hard to say but try battery tray and wishbone arm's hope this help's
