Guest Leadbelly
So far so good subframe almost done still searching for the holy grail=steering gear can you imagine they want 480€ for a new one or better said rebuilt one. Ah well guess i need to start searching from a car dismantler looks like theres quite good amount of them gears aorund im just hoping to find a properly working one. But by the look of it this project is getting out of hand looks like you cant fix one thing without touching the other oh well pics will follow shortly
Guest Leadbelly
Subframe under steelbrushing http://picasaweb.google.com/Leadbelly.1974/SubframeRustfree#5379390716268311026 Subframe rustfree with new joints and rubbers and painted with 3 layers with Hammerite smooth finish http://picasaweb.google.com/Leadbelly.1974/SubframeRustfree#5379390714724495522 Finally a picture of the "holy grail" aka as steering gear. The issue with the steering was kinda tricky to me because on the road with normal speed the car acted nice run smooth and didnt go from side to side. But when you accelerated it gave you this push to either side of the road and same thing if you dropped the pedal it kinda kneeled a bit. When you lifted the front up with both tires just a slight "play" was noticed when i turned the wheel with both hands not enough in my opinion to act like it did we are talking about maybe 2 mm "play". Anyway here i marked the actual "play" where the problem was with yellow arrovs and the "play" i would have suspected but turned out to be as good as new and no play at all http://picasaweb.google.com/Leadbelly.1974/SubframeRustfree#5379399183371469506
Guest Leadbelly
Well i guess i should post some pics of the car itself so heres some from earlier this year just after i dug it up from the wintersleep http://picasaweb.google.com/Leadbelly.1974/Something#5379402135801140898 http://picasaweb.google.com/Leadbelly.1974/Something#5379402131988849026 http://picasaweb.google.com/Leadbelly.1974/Something#5379402141873021042 And heres the rest of the motorpool The Vectra is my loyal workhorse it gets an awful lot of mileage per year since i used mainly to get to work and back Then my escort with the new set of 15 inch wheels i gave it to its birthday.
