Hi All

Need to tap into your grey matter please.

Have bought a set of bonnet vents for my car and need some help please with the fitting and spacing etc

They are the proper Ford vents and i will need to cut the relevant holes in the bonnet which is not too much of a problem as i will make up some mdf templates for the cutting.

Does anyone have the measurements of the true positions of the vents on the bonnet as i would like to get it looking as genuine as possible.

Also can you advise me on what happens after the vents are fitted as i can see that their may be a water ingress problem to the engine bay.

Do the orginal bonnet vents have some kind of drip tray that is fitted under they to protect the engine from the water?

Also do i have to cut the sound deadening under the bonnet or is it the sound deadening that prevents the water getting to the engine.

I note on the vents that i have bought that there are 3 fixing screw holes for fixing the vents under the bonnet, does anyone know what additional bits i need to make that fixing, as i just have the vents and nothing extra to go with them.

As always, any help gratefully received

Cheers

Chris

I agree, its much easier just to get the right bonnet, and spend a bit of money having it painted, modifying a non standard bonnet is a real pain and never quite looks right..

I got a bonnet and im not so far from cambridge

If I remember correctly the hole's where the vents go have small bracket type bits where the screws go on with some clips.

Water gets in but it's not really a problem at least on a genuine bonnet anyway.

Hi guys

Thanks for the feedback, its seems like using the proper bonnet is the way to go.

Unfortunatley, i have some time on my hands at the moment and i keep trying to find extra things to do on the car but putting the right bonnet on in the first place could save me some aggro.

Rob, let me know if you want to part with your bonnet and the price and i'll come around and pick it up

Thanks again guys

PS, anyone need some nice grey metallic bonnet vents ?? lol
