Guest pjw
i just got my xr3i and i think its been stood for a while - i thought the thermostat was stuck open as it was constantly running at about 1/4. the original thermo was knackered and so was the rubber seal below it, presumably letting water through. i just replaced the thermostat and coolant, and it seems to be the same if not only marginally warmer. runs about 1/4 when driving then when idling goes no higher than 1/3 and then the fans come in and it sits there. could the gauge be bust or the CTS gone? Guest pjw
radiator is nine months old. glad its not just mine, i was just fretting that usually with efi engines if its always running cold or the cts is bust then it runs rich, leading to really bad fuel consumption. flushed it out and the coolant is nice and clean now too, you should have seen the crap that came out. chaz
My temp also stops about quarter up the gauge but I do have the fan switch operating at 82 fahrenite to help it keep cool since it is very hot over here. I also flush the radiator once every other year on the cab. Edited July 9, 2009 by chaz
