hi there

i've been working on this over the last four months and she's almost done, almost!

i decided to fit a mk6 into it because my mk4 interior was knacked and i managed to get a complete mk6 interior for £40.

this is what i've done to the cab so far.

new front disc's pads and paint calipers

paint entire underneath including most suspension parts

refurbed the alloy's

put a rs turbo body kit on

new cd/mp head set and speakers along with a new electric aerial.

changed the rear lights as it had mk3's fitted when i got it.

refurbed carpet (vaxed x 3)

fitted the front spots (car boot £1)

up rated the roof to electric one

used the mk6 electric window motors and loom (angle grinder and welder required)

used the mk6 wing mirrors (electric and heated) and loom

copped the mk6 seats to fit in the back by using the mk4 bottom seat plate.

welded the mk4 seat runners to the mk6 front seats (git of a job)

fitted led underbody lights and customed dash to take control gear. ie used a spare clock push button and drilled dash so that i could use this button to change light seqence.

fitted mk6 dash which needs to cut down ie 3" off the back and 2" of the passenger side.

i used all the mk6 electric switches and changed led's to blue also put new led's into clock, speedo and heater controls

welded/repaired both sil's another couuple of small welds under bonnet.

fitted mk6 fuel sender unit so i could use the fuel guage from the mk6

touched up the paint work here and there but it's not far off a respray.

and loads of other stuff, was it all worth it i ask myself. anyway here are a few pics

it was a case of trial and error, but you do have to just busy with the drill and drill out where the new holes will be also you have to drill out where the mounting arms go, i remember that one of the mounting points on the wing mirror has to be cut down in length. then you have to use a stanley knife and trim down the plasic shroud on the mirror and cut it so it to fit flush on the window...it's a pain to do but it looks good.

i have a load more photo's but i'm having trouble loading them on.

Impressive work there mate, Liking it a lot.

Was it really that much of a Pain In The Ass to do?

Did you take any pics while you were doing it?

Just wondering if you fancied posting some kind of guide if anybody else fancied giving it a go?? (I.E. Me!!!!lol!!)

But seriously top marks mate, love it.

yeah it really was a pain, especially putting the mk4 windscreen heater vents into the mk6 dash coz you have to cut 3" off the back of the dash and that includes the mk6 heater vents. and then theres the plumbing to do..??? vacuum hose and silicon did the trick. oh cutting the rear seats down to size was a pain too coz the mk6 seats are too wide and you have to use the mk4 bottom seat metal tray and cut the foam from the mk6 to fit. then weld in some support for the top part of the rear seats coz the mk6 rears are in 3 pieces.

overall i must of spent over 200 hours so far......!!! that's 400 pints of beer i've missed out on. lol.

will look at photobucket and see if i can set something up, however most of the photo's were taken on my mobile.

if anyone is daft enough to have a go at this conversion then i'll help in anyway i can, the wiring is a nightmare but do able.

speak soon

mike

Just went through the slideshow mate.

You've put a lot of work into that cab even before carrying out the interior swap.

It's possible that your cab had more rust than min PMSL, check out my restoration thread and you'll see what I mean
