hi after removing the driveshafts we found they were of a mk 4 rs turbo hence why they were to short the problem is now that 1 mk 5 shaft fits the other is now 2 long by about 20mm we have put new wishbones steering rack track rod ends and wheel bearings in with the standard mk5 hubs that were on the car so the mk5 shafts should fit but dont we were told that the engine had been moved by previous owner so tried to move it back but wouldnt go enough some one has said the subframe on my car may be a zetec engine frame instead of a cvh frame does anyone no if they are different or what other solutions there may be to my problem any ideas welcome

finally sorted the prob whatever idiot that had done the conversion had held the lump in with a cradle instead of the gearbox mounts (along with a lot of other mistakes to the running gear) so the engine was not sat right hubby put mounts in last night engine n gearbox all nice n straight now in went the half shaft in to it proper place a pretty easy fix after a bit of help from the guys at mainline ford breakers just need to finish bolting a few bits back on tonight ready to test drive so all being well should be able to go to the classic show at santa pod in it
